VIPres at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Students' Union

An initiative to reduce damage and noise disturbance in halls of residence as a result of pre-drinking.

VIPres at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Students' Union

VIPres is aimed at large groups of students who typically pre-drink in halls of residence.

The intervention features early bird drink deals as an incentive for students to socialise in the bars prior to a night out, as opposed to pre-drinking in halls of residence and causing damage and/or noise disturbances.

The scheme was popular amongst sports clubs (e.g. the Ultimate Frisbee team who attend VIPres as part of a social event for a tournament that they hosted with other university teams).

It is £3 per entry to the event and it takes place between 9-11pm every Saturday night before club nights in the Students' Union bars. Approximately 150 students attend each week.

VIPres also operated a loyalty scheme to encourage attendance throughout the year.
